Typhoid Fever in Democratic Republic of the Congo

According to the World Health Organization, almost 716,500 suspected cases of typhoid fever were recorded in selected health zones of the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least including 198 deaths were registered.

Travellers to the affected areas can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food or water cannot be avoided.
