Severe Flooding in Belgium and Luxembourg

The heavy rain that has swept across western Europe has caused rivers to burst their banks, and flooding has caused enormous damage to Belgium and Luxembourg. Power outages are reported in some areas. In Luxembourg, the province of Liege is under a “red” alert level.

In Belgium, at least four people are reported dead due to flooding. There are reports of thousands of houses damaged or collapsing. The hardest-hit regions include Spa and Chaudfontaine.

In some areas, there is major disruption to rail and road travel. Rain is expected to continue in many areas throughout the day. Rivers could continue to rise and cause further damage. Check with local authorities before travelling.
