Security Alert for Niger

The U.S. Embassy in Niamey has issued a security alert for the “Three Sisters” Hiking Area or Collines Trois Soeurs, east of RN4 and RN6 intersection in Commune V and have prohibited their personnel from all recreational activities in the vicinity without an armed escort due to the security situation in the area.

Also, the U.S. Embassy has suspended government personnel travel to the Diffa Region due to the deteriorating security situation, especially in the vicinity of the Lake Chad Basin area.

Any travellers in the area should consider following this guidance. Many countries advise against all travel to Niger due to the dangerous safety and security situation.
