Protest Rallies on 25 March for Freedom Day in Minsk, Belarus

The opposition leader has called on Belarusians to protest at street rallies on Freedom Day, 25 March, against the government of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

City police have officially refused to agree to provide security for the participants on March 25. Belarusian KGB Chief stated that his team is “aware of plans to destabilize the situation in the country on March 25-27”. The Deputy Interior Minister has stated that “any unsanctioned rallies will be dispersed in a tough manner”.
