Possible Civil Unrest in Nicaragua 18-19 April 2021

Nationwide civil unrest is possible from 18-19 April commemorating the anniversary of the 2018 start of anti-government protests. Embassies have warned of possible traffic disruption and a heavy police presence, particularly at road intersections, Metrocentro, Galerias, Camino de Oriente malls, the parking lots of Edificio BAC and LAFISE Bank on Masaya Highway, the area surrounding UCA, the Holiday Inn Convention Center parking lot, the second entrance to Las Colinas, as well as in the area surrounding Plaza Las Victorias.

Protests, both planned and spontaneous, could occur nationwide. Minimize safety risks by avoiding all areas of large public gatherings or civil unrest.
