Hazardous Air Quality in Beijing, China

Beijing is experiencing bad air quality with extremely high levels of toxic particles due to a sandstorm and winds from Mongolia and northwestern China. The Beijing Meteorological Bureau stated that Beijing might face more sandstorms through April due to unfavourable weather forecasts. Also affected are Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Tianjin, Liaoning, and Jilin.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers with pre-existing lung and heart conditions should be cautious and remain indoors whenever possible. Small particles that are inhaled during times of poor air quality can exacerbate pre-existing conditions.
