Curfew Imposed in Kandahar, Afghanistan

A curfew from 21:00 until 05:00 has been imposed in Kandahar due to escalating violence in clashes between the Afghan forces and Taliban fighters.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning Indian photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui, was killed covering the clashes in the Kandahar region.

Authorities have advised residents who are in other locations to not return to Kandahar until further notice. A surge of violence is occurring as foreign military forces withdraw from Afghanistan. Many countries have advised citizens to leave the country as soon as possible.
