COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Togo (8 April Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents are allowed to enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Foreign travellers are allowed to enter.

Is transit allowed through the country?

  • Yes

  • Transit is allowed.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • Yes

  • Health screening measures are in place at all the entry ports including airports.

  • All arrivals will undergo a mandatory COVID-19 PCR test at their own expense upon arrival. Travellers will need to complete a Travel Declaration Form as well as pay for the COVID-19 test before departure for Togo at this link, which will create a QR code which must be presented on arrival.

  • Anyone departing Togo, except transiting travellers, must have a COVID-19 PCR test performed 72 hours prior to their departure. A facility for testing outbound passengers has been set up at the old terminal of the Lomé Airport. Travelers whose stay in Togo does not exceed 3 days are not required to retake a new COVID-19 test if their test on arrival is negative.

Test certificate required?

  • All passengers travelling to Lomé must show documentary proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than seven days prior to boarding. The document containing proof of negative test results must also be uploaded on the traveller declaration form.

  • For departing passengers, exit testing is required 72-hours in advance of a flight by visiting the Institute National d’Hygiène near 2 Fevrier Hotel. All passengers, including infants and children, now require testing before boarding a flight departing from Lome.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Maximum days of quarantine: 21

  • Minimum days of quarantine: 2

  • Arrivals must quarantine on arrival until the results of the tests taken on arrival are returned (up to 48 hours).

  • Those with positive test results will be confined in their hotel until they have two negative COVID tests in succession. The traveller will be responsible for all associated costs.

Insurance required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers must buy a medical travel insurance policy prior to getting a visa for Togo or submit proof of a repatriation deposit in the event of death.

Entry form required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers must complete a health and immigration declaration form available here. The traveller must complete the declaration form at least 24 hours before departure to Togo.

  • Departing travellers must complete the health and immigration declaration form and pay the fee for the COVID-19 PCR test, which must be performed within 3 days before departure from Togo. The form can be found here.

Recommended Border App

  • While in Togo, the government requires travellers to use the contact tracing app, Togo Safe, which must be active throughout their stay or for a minimum of 30 days starting from the day of arrival. Failure to comply with the obligation to install the application will result in the traveller being placed under quarantine in a state-provided containment facility for at least 14 days.

Advice For Travellers

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice. Airlines may have their own requirements for testing, masking, and distancing. It is recommended that travellers carry a supply of face masks since the requirement can vary by location. It is recommended that travellers practice social distancing and maintain a 6-foot distance other individuals and avoid crowded areas.
