COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Mauritius (09 April Update)

*Can a resident enter the country? *

  • Yes, with exceptions

  • Mauritian citizens and residents are allowed to enter. Travellers who have been in Brazil, Japan, or South Africa in the past 15 days are not allowed to enter the country.

*Can a foreigner enter the country? *

  • No

  • Travellers are not allowed to enter or transit through the country until at least 15 April.

*Is a test required on arrival? *

  • Yes

  • All travellers are subject to health screenings at entry points.

  • Until at least 31 May 2021, all passengers entering Mauritius will be quarantined for 14 days. They will be tested for COVID-19 on the day of arrival, on day 7, and on day 14 of their stay. If found positive on any of these tests, the traveller will be transferred to a public medical institution for further treatment.

  • COVID-19 testing is available at the C-Lab laboratory at Wellkin Hospital on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 to 12:00. The result will be available within 48 hours.

  • Yes

  • Passengers arriving in Mauritius must have a negative COVID-19 PCR report for a test performed between five and seven days prior to the departure date.

  • Departing passengers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test report obtained within five days (120 hours) prior to departure from Mauritius.

*Is quarantine required on arrival? *

  • Yes

  • Until at least 31 May 2021, all passengers entering Mauritius will be quarantined for 14 days. They will be tested for COVID-19 on the day of arrival, on day 7, and on day 14 of their stay.

  • Crew members must self isolate for 7 days or until their next flight.

  • Non-Mauritians must pay their hotels for mandatory testing and quarantine expenses.

  • Based on the above restrictions, all incoming travellers will be subjected to seven days of quarantine in the best-case scenario and 14 days of quarantine in the worst-case scenario.

  • Passengers are required to complete a form agreeing to COVID-19 testing and quarantine measures required by the Mauritius government. Passengers must have a copy of this signed form and the PCR test certificate in order to board. The form can be found here.

  • Arriving passengers are required to complete a Passenger Locator Form and a Passenger Health Self–Declaration Form.

Advice For Travellers

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice. Airlines may have their own requirements for testing, masking, and distancing. It is recommended that travellers carry a supply of face masks since the requirement can vary by location. It is recommended that travellers practice social distancing and maintain a 6-foot distance other individuals and avoid crowded areas.
