COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Mauritania (16 April Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Transit through Mauritania is allowed.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • No with exceptions

  • All arrivals in Mauritania will have their temperature checked. If a traveller has a fever, that traveller will immediately have a COVID-19 test performed.

Is a test certificate allowed?

  • Yes

  • Test certificates issued outside Mauritania are accepted. The certificate must be in English, French, or Arabic.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes

  • All travellers must have a negative PCR test certificate issued within five-days prior to arrival in Mauritania. Travellers should keep their test results with them throughout their travels since the test results may be requested by the airline or immigration officials. Non-Mauritanian nationals that arrive without a PCR test will not be allowed to enter the country and will be required to immediately return to their country of origin.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • All arrivals must go through self-quarantine for 10-days upon arrival.

  • Travellers tested positive upon arrival will need to go through 10-days quarantine upon arrival.

  • Travellers arriving from Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or any other country considered by the Mauritanian authorities to be a country of origin of a virus variant must go into self-isolation for 14 days after entry and have a PCR test carried out at the end of this period. If this test is negative, self-isolation can be terminated.
