COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Lithuania (7 April Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents are allowed to enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • No with exceptions

  • Foreigners are not allowed to enter the country. The details regarding exemption can be found in this link.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • No with exceptions

  • If travellers do not provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 48 hours before arrival, then a COVID-19 test on arrival is required.

Is a test certificate allowed?

  • Yes

  • Test certificates issued from other countries are allowed.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes

  • All passengers returning or arriving will be required to have a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours at the earliest before the return or arrival in Lithuania.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Passengers may be required to self-isolate for 10 days subject to instructions by authorities. The details can be found in this link

  • Travellers must complete a health questionnaire before departure at this link and present a QR code.

Recommended App?

  • Yes

  • The “KoronaStopLT” app is free to download from Google Play and App Store and will record people’s closeness to infected people. The app will warn users if they have been in very close contact with another app user over the past 14 days and for more than 15 minutes.

Vaccination Required

  • A vaccination for COVID-19 is not required for entry into the country.

Airline restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Lithuania lifted the ban on flights from the UK. However, travellers from the UK are required to self-isolate for ten days. In addition, they must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued no earlier than 48 hours before arrival, or register for a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival.

  • Some commercial flights are operating. Regular passenger flights to Lithuania are allowed only from the countries approved by the Government.

  • The government has extended the nationwide lockdown until 30 April as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

Social distancing restrictions

  • Gatherings are prohibited. People may leave their homes only for essential reasons. A household may go for a walk together.

Internal travel restrictions

  • Masks are required.

  • Checkpoints are in operation throughout Lithuania. If you are travelling to a different municipality, you should carry evidence of the reason for your journey.

  • Passengers on public transport must be seated and leave a 1-metre distance between themselves and other passengers.

  • Taxis may be used, however, they should be booked for members of the same household only.

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice. Airlines may have their own requirements for testing, masking, and distancing. It is recommended that travellers carry a supply of face masks since the requirement can vary by location. It is recommended that travellers practice social distancing and maintain a 6-foot distance other individuals and avoid crowded areas.
