COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Aruba (23 February Update)

*Can a resident enter the country? *

  • Yes

  • Residents of Aruba are allowed to enter.

*Can a foreigner enter the country? *

  • Yes with exceptions.

  • Aruba’s borders are open for Bonaire & Curacao, Canada, Europe, all Caribbean countries (including the Dominican Republic and Haiti), United States of America, South America (excluding Venezuela, Peru and Brazil), and Central America.

*Is a test required on arrival? *

  • No with exceptions

  • On arrival, all travellers will undergo medical screening.

  • Travellers without a valid certificate for a negative COVID-19 test are subject to test on arrival at their own expense.

  • Travellers below the age of 15 years, travellers departing on the same calendar day, and residents of Aruba and Bonaire arriving from Bonaire are exempted from the test requirement.

*Is a test certificate allowed? *

  • Yes

  • Test certificates issued outside Aruba are accepted.

  • The following molecular tests are accepted: PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR, Rapid PCR, NAA/NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification), AMP PRB (Amplified Probe), LAMP (Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification), TMA (Transcription-mediated Amplification) are accepted.

  • The result must list:

  • Name, as it appears on passport.

  • “COVID-19”, “SARS-CoV-2” or “Coronavirus”

  • The type of molecular test or molecular test brand name.

  • How the test was taken: “Nasal”, “Nasopharyngeal”, “Mid-turbinate”, “Oropharyngeal”, “Combined Oral/Nasal”, or “Combined Oral/Nasopharyngeal”, or “Combined Oral/Mid-turbinate” swab

  • Test result: “Negative”

*Test certificate required? *

  • Yes with exceptions

  • A valid certificate for a negative PCR COVID-19 test performed within 72 hours of departure is required. The test results need to be uploaded no later than 12 hours prior to departure to Aruba.

  • Test results older than 72 hours will not be considered valid.

*Is quarantine required on arrival? *

  • No with exceptions

  • Passengers without a PCR test certificate must take a COVID-19 test on arrival at their own expense. The traveller must quarantine until the test results are available (at least 24 hours).

  • Residents of Aruba and Bonaire arriving from Bonaire are exempt from the quarantine requirement.

*Insurance required? *

  • Yes

  • Purchasing Aruba Visitors Insurance is mandatory for all visitors and must be purchased in advance of travel as part of the online ED card process.

  • Exceptions include passengers departing on the same day, diplomats, Dutch military officials with their spouses and children, and residents of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

*Entry form required? *

  • Yes

  • All travellers to Aruba are required to complete a process beginning with an online Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) card to be pre-approved to enter Aruba. The ED card can be found here. Visitors will not be allowed to enter Aruba without completing the process. A valid passport and valid email address are needed.

  • This health assessment form must be completed within 72 hours of departure from the embarkation point, and the travel authorization must be presented during check-in.

  • Visitors should download the Aruba Department of Public Health’s Aruba Health App.

Airline restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Airports are open.

  • Masks are mandatory for travellers older than 15 years in the airports and on flights into Aruba.

  • Flights to and from Canada, Europe, and some Caribbean nations are permitted. Limited flights with special permission are available to and from Bonaire and Curacao.

Border restrictions

  • Minimal

  • The Tourism Authority of Aruba has announced that Aruba’s border has reopened with the Dominican Republic, Haiti, South America (except Peru and Venezuela), and Central America.

  • International borders have opened for Europe, Canada, the United States, and some Caribbean islands.

Curfew restrictions

  • Minimal

  • The nationwide curfew has been lifted. A ban from midnight to 05:00 will remain in place for beaches and public parking lots.

  • All establishments must close by 23:00 hours.

  • Gathering in public places, such as parking lots and on beaches, is not allowed between 19:00 hours and 05:00 hours.

Social distancing restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Gatherings are limited to 15 people.

  • People must maintain a social distance of 1.5 meters.

Internal travel restrictions

  • Minimal

  • There are no internal travel restrictions.

  • Shops are open.

*Accommodations open? *

  • Yes

  • Hotels are allowed to open.

*Restaurants open? *

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Restaurants are open.

  • Tables at restaurants can have a maximum of eight seats inside (excluding seating for children under the age of 12) and ten seats outside with a distance of 1.5 meters between the tables.

*Bars and cafes open? *

  • No with exceptions

  • All bars, rum shops, and nightclubs are closed until further notice. Restaurant bars can serve tables only. Sitting or standing at bars is not allowed.

*Beaches and tourism sites open? *

  • Yes

  • Beaches are allowed to open from 05:00 to midnight daily.

*Museums and heritage sites open? *

  • Yes

  • Museums are open.

*Personal care services open? *

  • Yes

  • Spa, massage services, and saunas are allowed to reopen.

*Events allowed? *

  • No with exceptions

  • No live music activities with a band or a DJ are allowed.

  • No parties are allowed in private homes.

  • Beach weddings are permitted but are limited to a maximum of 25 people, no live music is allowed, and proper social distancing must be adhered to. A single, non-amplified musician is allowed.

*Masks required in public? *

  • Yes

  • A face mask is mandatory in public places and on public transportation/taxis.

Other

  • Conferences and meeting centres can reopen.

  • Indoor group sports and contact sports of any kind (indoor or outdoor) are not permitted.

  • Contact sports are not allowed, however, other sports with a limit of 25 persons outside or 10 persons inside are allowed without spectators.
