COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Sudan (19 July Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents are allowed to enter Sudan.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Foreign travellers can enter Sudan.

  • Until 13 August, passengers travelling from or transiting through India or through any other country after having visited India in the past 14 days before planned travel to Sudan will be prohibited from entering the country.

  • Transit through Sudan is permitted. Restrictions may apply to travellers arriving from India, the UK, Netherlands and South Africa.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • No with exceptions

  • Passengers of Sudanese origin and passengers arriving from Egypt and Ethiopia are required to undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival.

Is a test certificate accepted?

  • Yes

  • Test certificates issued by foreign countries are accepted. The certificate must be in English or Arabic and should contain a barcode or QR code.

Test certificate required?

  • Arriving travellers must possess a certificate for a negative COVID-19 PCR test issued within 96 hours before arrival.

  • Travellers arriving from Egypt and Ethiopia and travellers originating from or transiting through the UK, South Africa, and the Netherlands must present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR certificate issued within 72 hours before arrival.

  • Travellers aged six (6) and younger are exempt from this requirement.

  • All foreigners departing Sudan are required to present a negative PCR test certificate from an accredited lab dated within 72 hours of departure.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • No with exceptions

  • Travellers arriving from or who have transited through the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the Netherlands must enter home quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Sudan.

  • Arriving travellers exhibiting symptoms or testing positive for COVID-19 will be assigned to either self-isolation or quarantine at a government facility.

  • Based on the above restrictions, arriving travellers are not required to enter quarantine unless they are arriving from the UK, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

Is a vaccination required?

  • No

  • A vaccination for COVID-19 is not required for entry into the country.

Insurance required?

  • No

  • Proof of insurance coverage for COVID-19 expenses is not required to enter the country.

Entry form required?

  • Yes

  • All arrivals will need to complete a medical form and provide complete details of their location and place of self-isolation.

Airline restrictions

  • Khartoum International Airport has resumed flights for international purposes.

  • Flight services between Sudan and India remain suspended.

  • Domestic flights are operating.

  • Anyone departing Sudan will have their temperature checked before entering the airport. Some airlines require a negative COVID-19 test certificate before boarding.
