COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Anguilla (13 July Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents are allowed to enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes, with exceptions

  • Effective 1 July, all arriving travellers who are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine must be fully vaccinated and have received their last vaccination at least 21 days prior to arrival. Exemptions to this requirement include pregnant women and children under the age of 17. More information can be found at this website.

  • Foreign travellers will need pre-approval to enter Anguilla and must apply using the Visitor Application Form. The approval will be based on the completion of entry requirements. Travellers should start the application process at least 7 days before the intended date of travel.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • Yes

  • All travellers entering Anguilla, including citizens, residents, and vaccinated travellers, will be tested for COVID-19 on arrival.

  • For multi-generational families comprised of fully vaccinated persons and unvaccinated children under the age of 18 years and/or pregnant women, the unvaccinated persons in these groups will additionally be required to undergo a subsequent RT-PCR test on Day 4.

  • On arrival, all fully vaccinated people will receive a yellow wristband while unvaccinated people including residents and minors will receive a red wristband. Wrist bands can only be removed at the direction of the Ministry of Health.

Is a test certificate allowed?

  • Yes, with exceptions

  • For entry approval, the only accepted COVID-19 test is an RT-PCR (polymerase chain reaction) result from a nasopharyngeal swab.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes

  • All arriving travellers (including infants, toddlers and vaccinated travellers) must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test certificate issued within 3 to 5 days (72 to 120 hours) prior to arrival in Anguilla. Further information about COVID-19 testing can be found at this website.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • Yes

  • All travellers are required to stay in their hotel until receiving a negative test result from their test on arrival.

  • Unvaccinated returning residents must quarantine for 10 days in approved accommodation.

  • Multi-generational families and/or groups with a mix of individuals who are not eligible for the vaccine (i.e. children or pregnant women) are exempted from quarantine but will be required to take a further RT-PCR test on the fourth day after arrival.

  • Children under the age of 18 who are unaccompanied and are not fully vaccinated but coming from a fully vaccinated household and arrived to stay in a fully vaccinated household are exempted from quarantine but will be required to take an RT-PCR test four days after arrival. However unaccompanied children under the age of 18 who are not fully vaccinated, coming from an unvaccinated household and arrived to stay in an unvaccinated or vaccinated household, will be required to take an RT-PCR test four days after arrival and will be required to self-isolate for 10 days in approved accommodation.

  • Travellers who are fully vaccinated are exempted from quarantine provided that the final vaccine dose is administered at least 21 days before the date of arrival.

  • All returning Anguillans will be able to quarantine at their own properties and accommodations. However, the property must be inspected by the Ministry of Health before providing approval. If the property fails the inspection, travellers will be required to quarantine at a government facility.

  • Based on the above restrictions, arriving travellers will be required to spend 0 to 10 days in quarantine.

Insurance required?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Health insurance covering all COVID-19 related expenses is required for unvaccinated visitors. Fully vaccinated persons do not need proof of insurance.

Entry form required?

  • Yes

  • All travellers must apply for entry approval using the Visitor Application Form. For approved applications, an electronic travel authorization will be issued to the traveller's email. Travellers are required to start the application process at least seven (7) days before the intended date of travel. Final approval is granted upon receipt and approval of the negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results.

Is vaccination required?

  • Yes, with exceptions

  • Only fully vaccinated visitors who are eligible for the vaccine will be granted entry permission to Anguilla. Fully vaccinated visitors are exempted from quarantine, are not required to pay the entry fees, and are not required to provide proof of health insurance. Families with fully vaccinated adults but have children who are not eligible for the vaccine will be exempted. The vaccine must be a UK MHRA approved vaccine, which includes Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, and Janssen vaccine.

  • To be considered “fully vaccinated”, travellers must have received a single dose vaccine or a two dose vaccine within 21 days before arrival.

Recommended border app

  • No

  • There is currently no recommended contact tracing app.

  • On arrival, all fully vaccinated people will receive a yellow wristband while unvaccinated people including residents and minors will receive a red wristband. Wrist bands can only be removed at the direction of the Ministry of Health.

Airline restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Air borders have reopened for international travellers.

  • Travellers are required to wear masks during their travel to Anguilla or transit through the islands.

Border restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Borders are open. Outbound movement is permitted.

  • The regular ferry services from the Marigot Port (Saint Martin) to the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal are currently suspended. However, the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal is operating for departing charters to Sint Maarten.

Curfew restrictions

  • Minimal

  • There is currently no curfew or lockdown in effect.

Social distancing restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Restrictions on gatherings have been lifted.

Internal travel restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Blowing Point Ferry Terminal and Road Bay Port is open.

  • Public transportation is currently operating. All temporary restrictions on movement have been lifted.

  • Visits to other islands are not allowed during the visit to Anguilla. Each island has different protocols.

  • Non-essential shops are open.

Accommodations open?

  • Yes

  • Non-essential services are open.

  • Persons travelling in groups (more than 10 persons) will be required to be vaccinated to enter and conduct any mass gatherings in Anguilla, such as conferences and weddings.

Masks required in public?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Masks are not mandatory and are not required after persons have been medically cleared from quarantine. However, visitors are required to use masks upon arrival to Anguilla, while travelling through the airport or seaport, on their way to their approved accommodation, and indoors where social distancing is not possible.

Other

  • Daycare and child-minding facilities are open. Schools are open for in-person classes.

  • Fully vaccinated persons can take part in festivals.

Advice For Travellers

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice. Airlines may have their own requirements for testing, masking, and distancing. It is recommended that travellers carry a supply of face masks since the requirement can vary by location. It is recommended that travellers practice social distancing and maintain a 6-foot distance from other individuals and avoid crowded areas.
