COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Turks and Caicos Islands (12 July Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Residents are allowed to enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Foreigners are allowed to enter.

  • Visitors are permitted to stay for up to 90 days (extendable for an additional 90 days) and are free to travel throughout the islands without restrictions during their stay.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • No, with exceptions.

  • Temperature checks and screening will be conducted. Travellers may be subject to random COVID-19 spot checks and tests.

Is a test certificate allowed?

  • Yes

  • PCR test certificates issued outside of the Turks and Caicos Islands are accepted. Antigen and antibody tests are not accepted.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Travellers aged 10 and above and airline crew staying on the islands for more than 24 hours, must present a certificate for a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued no more than five (5) days before arrival.

  • Tourists and visitors must submit a negative COVID-19 test certificate regardless of their vaccination status.

  • Fully-vaccinated residents (not tourists) may apply for an exemption from the pre-departure test certificate requirement. To avail of this exemption, the resident must meet ALL the conditions listed below:

    • Have taken the COVID-19 vaccine in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

    • Have taken both required doses of the vaccine.

    • Have taken the second dose at least two weeks prior to travel.

    • Be on the Government's register of COVID-19 vaccinated persons.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • No with exceptions

  • Arriving travellers are not required to enter quarantine on arrival.

  • Travellers who have been in contact with individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or those exhibiting symptoms will be required to enter quarantine for 14 days at their own expense.

  • Based on the above restrictions, arriving travellers are not required to enter quarantine unless they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with individuals who are diagnosed with COVID-19.

Insurance required?

  • Yes

  • Insurance that covers COVID-19 medical costs and full hospitalization, air ambulance, doctors’ visits, and prescriptions is required for entry to Turks and Caicos.

Entry form required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers and airline crew, including fully-vaccinated travellers must have a travel authorization completed at least 24 hours before departure and present it to immigration. The authorization can be found at this link. Exceptions include airline crew staying for a maximum of 24 hours and merchant seamen.

  • Travellers will also be required to complete and submit a health screening questionnaire for COVID-19 at the port of entry.

Is vaccination required?

  • No

  • A vaccination for COVID-19 is not mandatory for entry into the country.

  • Fully-vaccinated residents (not tourists) may apply for an exemption from the pre-departure test certificate requirement. To avail of this exemption, the resident must all the conditions listed below:

    • Have taken the COVID-19 vaccine in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

    • Have taken both required doses of the vaccine.

Airline restrictions

  • Minimal

  • The Providenciales International Airport is open for both domestic and international flights.

Border restrictions

  • Minimal

  • All borders are open to regional and international flights and vessels.

  • Cruise ships are banned through 30 September 2021.

Curfew restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Authorities have extended and changed the night curfew from 01:00 to 05:00 (local time) until 31 August 2021.

  • Businesses must close by 00:00.

Social distancing restrictions

  • Moderate

  • All public gatherings or social gatherings, of any size, whether public or private, now require a permit from the Environmental Health Department. Different regulations exist for weddings and some other events and activities. This is in effect until 31 August 2021.

Internal travel restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Masks are required in all vehicles.

  • Authorities have lifted restrictions on inter-island travel. Authorization is no longer required for domestic travel.

  • Cruises ships are banned through 30 September 2021.

Non-essential shops open?

  • Yes

  • Until 31 August 2021, non-essential shops must close by 00:00 (midnight- local time)

Accommodations open?

  • Yes

  • Accommodations are open

Restaurants open?

  • Yes

  • Restaurants are operating with occupancy limits

Bars and cafes open?

  • Yes

  • Bars are operating at a limited capacity and must close by 00:00 (midnight - local time).

Beaches and tourism sites open?

  • Yes

  • Beaches and tourism sites are open; however, social distancing norms must be followed.

  • Gatherings of more than six persons outside the same household are not permitted on the beach.

Museums and heritage sites open?

  • Yes

  • Museums and heritage sites are open.

Personal care services open?

  • Yes

  • Until 31 August 2021, personal care services must close by 00:00 (midnight - local time).

Places of worship open?

  • Yes

  • Places of worship are open with occupancy limits.

Events allowed?

  • Yes with exceptions

Advice For Travellers

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice. Airlines may have their own requirements for testing, masking, and distancing. It is recommended that travellers carry a supply of face masks since the requirement can vary by location. It is recommended that travellers practise social distancing, maintain a 6-foot distance from other individuals and avoid crowded areas.
