Bangladesh: Unhealthy Air Quality in Dhaka

Air quality in Dhaka and surrounding areas has reached severe levels. According to reports on 21 July, the city of Dhaka ranks first worldwide for the country with the worst Air Quality Index.

Bangladesh is reported to be the most polluted country worldwide, while the City of Dhaka is one of the most polluted cities in the world.
The current pollution contains high levels of very small particulate matter that can be inhaled deeply into the lungs causing potential health problems. Persons with pre-existing heart and lung conditions should remain indoors, if possible until air quality improves. Additionally, there is concern that poor air quality creates a greater risk for those with respiratory problems who get infected with COVID-19.
